The in class activity provided an opportunity to explore what others have created in SL. I'm glad we had the opportunity to start with curated content as finding something on our own would have proved to be challenging. Just as the internet has a range of content, from trusted authorities of information to a kid posting their rants and raves - and everything in between. Content creators in SL are able to do what they want on their island and post content they deem to be of interest. SL fosters creating opened and closed access spaces that would not ordinarily exist in the real world for a range of purposes. From classrooms, to auditoriums, art galleries, music spaces, and other unique or culturally based spaces (Jennings and Collins, 2007). The exploration provided students the opportunity to choose what stood out for them and venture to a place of interest.
In my quest to possible learn more about my Chinese heritage, I went to the Chinese Island powered by Monash University. I thought they did a very good job with their island. There were some good interactive activities. Thankfully, there isn't any "lives" to worry about in SL as I was trapped underwater for a period of time and and to figure out how to get out from under part of the island.
I happened to stumble upon the sandbox area where there appeared to be massed cloning going on. Not a huge surprise, but they didn't have any of their SL outfits on apparently. They also appeared to be doing similar training to what we've been working on in class. There were a bunch of boxes and bags with textures on them. That was interesting to see that they were doing similar practice builds.

Next top on my exploration path was the vLab Project. So admittedly, I'm not the best at 3D worlds and gaming. I had great difficulty in trying to get one of the HUDs here.
I could only imagine what the HUD would have done for exploring this particular room pictured below. There looked like there would have been a range of experiments to try out.
I had spent the least amount of time at the International Space Flight Museum due to the time constraint. I was trying to activate the rocket to be able to ride/explore with it, but that didn't work out for me.
